Navajo Police Department congratulates Sgt. Tsosie on her recent promotion for Shiprock District

Shiprock, N.M.—The Navajo Police Department congratulates Officer Marlena Tsosie on her recent promotion to Police Sergeant. Tsosie is of the Bit’ahnii for Kinyaa’áanii. Her maternal grandfather’s clan is Nóóda’i and her paternal grandfather’s clan is the Tábąąhí clan. She was born and raised in Navajo Mountain, Utah. Tsosie graduated from Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy in Prescott, Arizona, in December 2015 and graduated with academic honors. Tsosie began her law enforcement career in Kayenta, Arizona, and is commissioned with the NPD and commissioned as a Federal Officer. She began working for the NPD Shiprock District in December 2022. “I thank my family and friends who helped make this possible. Without them I wouldn't have made it this far. I, also thank the leadership of Kayenta District who always encouraged me to do my best with everything I do,” stated Tsosie. “I am thankful to be given the opportunity to lead some of the finest officers in the Shiprock District.” Tsosie is going on her eighth year in law enforcement for the Navajo Police Department. Congratulations, Sergeant Tsosie!
